BF6 Gamers Concur: Challenges Are Way Too Hard

The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with widespread acclaim, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.

Players have started using personalized games set up using the Portal feature to finish these tasks, underscoring just how grueling these missions have become.

Comprehending Battlefield 6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. There are four types of assignments, but where most simply offer skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of acquiring 12 of the 41 key firearms available in the game.

Some of these restricted firearms may soon make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash across Reddit

On Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This task is so awful and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at extremely close range, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

Another Reddit user pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with long-range weapons

This is difficult enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and perhaps Operation Firestorm at a push if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.

The Workaround

Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if tackling the tasks in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for finishing these in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Future Adjustments

It is expected if some of these assignments are made easier in the next few updates, because if they're not, certain gamers simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

At the moment, the community continues to express their views on these challenging battlefield assignments, hoping for a less arduous player experience in future updates.
